TablePad

Release notes

Product updates for the TablePad Mac app — tables, SQL, canvas, and database connections.

TablePad 0.1.6 — Connections that stay in sync

v0.1.6Latest
  • Settings follow the engine — Postgres, MySQL, SQLite, Cloudflare D1, and the others each get their own fields instead of one generic host and port form
  • A changed connection saves only after a successful test
  • Saving clears stale caches on the server and in the client, and a failed database list shows an error with retry instead of an empty database
  • Caches are keyed by host, port, and database, so editing a connection does not flash the previous database’s tables
  • New workspaces take the connected database’s name instead of a generic title like “PostgreSQL workspace”
  • Renaming in Settings sticks on the workspace itself, not only on the connection row
  • The database landing and workspace header stay in sync when the connection changes, and Cloudflare D1’s internal _cf_* tables stay hidden
  • UI preferences survive app updates — they reset only when the preference schema changes, not on every build
  • Meta storage uses versioned migrations, including global LLM settings

TablePad 0.1.5 — Tables and where you left off

v0.1.5
  • Table tabs follow the same preview and permanent behavior as Canvas and SQL: sidebar and foreign-key links reuse a preview tab, and a double-click or an edit pins it
  • Arrow keys stay smooth in the desktop web view — selection paints on the cell, and only rows near the viewport stay mounted
  • MySQL schema reads use normalized information_schema names
  • App settings sit beside Workspace settings in one sidebar
  • Canvas title focus lands on the title for an empty note, and in the editor once there is content
  • UI preferences persist: open tabs, grid scroll and selection, SQL editor chrome, and canvas navigation, including the last route when you switch sections or workspaces
  • SQL runs apply the row limit, and Database, SQL, and Canvas share one sidebar header

TablePad 0.1.4 — Canvas, SQL, and LLM

v0.1.4
  • Sidebars match the database nav, and a workspace always has a default canvas
  • Open tabs are separate from saved queries and canvases — closing a tab no longer removes the sidebar item
  • Canvas tab bar uses the same model, and pinned blocks sit above the canvas list
  • Query SQL has more padding so statements are easier to read
  • Model picker on the data block, with shortcuts into LLM settings from the block menu and from config errors
  • API keys live in App settings only — add and remove provider keys there, and pick the active model below them
  • Usage log records each Canvas AI call, including the full request and response text
  • Thinking traces are stored as readable text, and long payloads no longer stretch the usage table
  • Pending changes bar docks above the SQL console and lines up with the table header

TablePad 0.1.3 — Workspaces home

v0.1.3
  • Hero and gallery are back on the workspaces home, with a resume action and a card for each workspace
  • App settings open from the home screen, including LLM credentials stored once for the app

TablePad 0.1.2 — Local connections

v0.1.2
  • Postgres SSL uses the same checkbox as MySQL, instead of a separate mode
  • SQLite file picker so a local database can be chosen from disk
  • Local Postgres on localhost can be saved from the desktop connection form

TablePad 0.1.1 — First launch

v0.1.1
  • First public release of TablePad for macOS — a single workspace for spreadsheet-style tables, schema-aware SQL, and AI-assisted canvas documents
  • Multi-database workspaces for PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite, Supabase, and Cloudflare D1
  • Tiny launcher, full app over the air — a small signed DMG installs the shell; the UI and API update via signed OTA bundles without reinstalling
  • Keyboard-first navigation with inline cell editing and staged changes applied in one transaction
  • Visual filters, column sorting, and raw WHERE clauses
  • Foreign-key peek popovers, related-row drawers, and JSON cell inspection
  • Multi-tab Monaco editor with schema-aware autocomplete (tables, columns, and table.column)
  • Run the current statement or the full script, with safe cancellation and client-side query history
  • SQL console panel and export results as CSV or JSON
  • Block-based documents with live query blocks, charts, and notes in one surface
  • AI analyst workflow with visible SQL steps and read-only guardrails against mutating statements
  • Pinned, parameterized queries and auto-refreshing chart blocks
  • Native macOS app built with Tauri — Developer ID signed and notarized installer from tablepad.dev
  • Connection test before saving a workspace; credentials stored locally for your machine
  • Release notes and download metadata published alongside OTA bundles on Cloudflare R2
